This goal might seem simple, but I believe this practice is absolutely sacred. Typically, the filmmakers themselves create and submit their short films to festivals to do one simple thing – share with an audience a story they’ve felt compelled to tell. A short film doesn’t have to secure a distribution deal, be handled by a sales agent or formulate a PR plan. Short films remain in an underappreciated yet largely unpoliced realm in which filmmakers can still tell the stories they want to tell.īecause short films typically don’t make money, filmmakers aren’t held to the same corporate standards of ROI for studio feature films or TV series. And film artists everywhere are struggling to continue creating in this volatile climate.īut amidst the upheaval of streaming giants and Hollywood at large, there is one art form in which filmmakers still rule supreme: the short film. The conflicts between the creative workforce and the corporate entities that employ them have never felt more charged. And as we enter the summer season of big-budget blockbusters, we also trudge into yet another month of mass media consolidation, union strikes and industry-wide layoffs. I have a hard time believing they actually playtested it with a level zero driving rank and no buggy upgrades (such as nitro).Īnyway, sorry if this seems like a rant, this quest just seemed like an unreasonably massive spike in difficulty out of nowhere. The summer solstice has come and gone, but sadly the turmoil in the filmmaking industry is just getting started. which you need because an unrepaired buggy simply doesn't drive fast enough to complete the quest.Īnyway, what stopped me from just quitting to do something else (for the sake of my sanity) was the fact that the game eventually cycles to daytime during the quest. So good luck finding fuel and materials to repair the buggy. And you're on a 3-minute timer where you'll respawn at the end of it if you don't make it to the pumping station. It takes SEVERE damage from volatile attacks when you're being chased. The best part? Every time you die and respawn during this quest, the buggy doesn't get refueled or repaired or anything. And I just want to be clear that I've been playing this game on hard for the past ~180 hours it's not as if I'm some kind of newcomer to the game. I've now failed the quest where you have to drive along the pipeline at night 10+ times. Like, okay, I could understand if I was playing on hard or nightmare, but I actually switched to normal for The Following (intending to do a hard playthrough after). Healing in the buggy also takes an unreasonable amount of time considering how tenacious the volatiles are during a chase. Either way, you're screwed next time some volatile happens to catch up to you (and they will no matter how fast you drive, seemingly) or you get spotted again. Yeah, except, the volatiles will stay on your ass HARD and every time they hit the buggy (which they do RAPIDLY), you get slowed down, until you eventually slow to a crawl and either can't get away or make it away with maybe 50 health left, if you're lucky.
